I can’t always remember what I had to eat for dinner last night. But certain foods bring back vivid memories. Whenever I eat egg salad I think of Sylvia McFadden, the amazing woman who watched-over me afterschool. When I butter a hot popover, I think of my father. Brownies make me think of football tailgates; blueberries - summers at the lake; cinnamon rolls – my granny Smith; molasses cookies – my sister-in-law Kathy; and Christmas cookies – my brother Joe.
I’m always looking for a great new recipe, but I’m looking for more than just a recipe. I’m searching for future food memories. I’m looking for that perfect combination of good food and people in a setting that will make it more than a recipe.
