Happy 2010 to you too Jane. So good to hear from you. Hope you Mac and the kids had a great holiday. I too miss the cookies ... and my dad. Tried to write a blog on popovers ... someday, I hope I will be able to. Give my best to the Corning crowd!

Actually, my sister in law made the cider braised brussel sprout recipe for Thanksgiving but added pancetta and it was fantastic! I love the idea of adding the raisins to balance the acidity of the vinegar. Great call!

I have not tried the brussels sprouts with golden raisen and pancetta. Do you just mix everything with oil and roast?

I'll definately give this one a try ... although, I must say I am partial to the crust with sambucca ... and I usually add a little anise seed in also. Thanks for the tip and glad you liked the spice blend.

I like your spin on pumpkin pie and your spice mix really kicks it up a notch. One variation: Make a ginger snap cookie crust and reduce the sugar in the filling by 1/4 cup.

Jean & Lynn, Thank you for providing this space for Memories. I found your site today (Labor Day 2009) while searching for caloric content of Cinnamon (Korintje "A") for my daily food log. While I didn't find the calorie listing for any spices on your site, I sure have enjoyed poking around reading about you two and creating FAVORITES to place in my RECIPES folder. THANKS AGAIN!

Laura A. James

Thanks again for taking the time to maintain the Smith & Truslow website including "Thyme Out" memories section.

Champagne would be best. Maybe a white wine, or a white balsamic. Cider would work. I'd stay away from the red balsamics because the color would stain the melon. We'd love to hear a review after you make and taste it.
